Let's go on a tour of Koedo Kawagoe!Toki no Kane (Bell of Time) is a cultural asset designated by Kawagoe City and a symbol of Koedo Kawagoe. The sound of the bell echoing through the city four times a day at 6:00, 12:00, 15:00, and 18:00 was selected as one of the "100 Soundscapes of Japan to Preserve" in 1996 by the Ministry of the Environment. At approximately 16 meters high, the bell tower stands out prominently in the traditional and atmospheric cityscape. The present bell tower was rebuilt in 1893, the year after the Great Kawagoe Fire, and it is said that the bell was originally built in 1627, indicating its long history.
